Bacon Breadsticks

A few years ago, I found a recipe for appetizers while surfing the net and was quite intrigued with the idea of bacon wrapped breadsticks.  I was strolling through The Dollar Store last weekend and saw the skinny breadsticks and remembered I had a mental note tagged inside my head that I wanted to try them.  Well I did and they were good!

The recipe is easy, all you do is wrap a piece of bacon around a breadstick and bake.  One change that I need to mention is that I strongly suggest that you cut the strip of bacon in half lengthwise.  This will let the bacon cook up better.  Also, make sure you use a thin cut bacon.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Prepare a cookie sheet by covering in foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top.

Next, prepare the breadsticks by taking the bacon strips (halved lengthwise) and spiral wrap around each breadstick and place onto the wire rack making sure the breadsticks do not fall through.

Once finished filling the rack with the covered breadsticks, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over each stick.

Bake for about 15 minutes or until the bacon has cooked and crisped.

Three ingredients:  Bacon, skinny breadsticks (I used sesame flavored), and Parmesan cheese

Spiral bacon around breadstick.  Notice that is is a whole piece of bacon.  I suggest cutting the bacon in half lengthwise.  You will get twice as many appetizers and it also cooks up better.

Your breadstick should look similar to this.  The halved bacon strips wrap a lot better around the breadstick and is less bulky.

Arrange onto a prepared cookie sheet with a wire rack.  Arrange so that the breadsticks do not fall through.
Sprinkles with Parmesan cheese and bake at 425 degrees for about 15 minutes or until the bacon crisps and the breadsticks do not burn.
